Mr. Cranky, would you please set your frame of reference? You're obviously a post-modern film critic, for what that's worth, but you've certainly not established your credentials as a critic of theatre. You may have a valid point when you complain about how plays are poorly translated to the screen, but there is no syllogistic argument here that then defines those plays as substandard.
