from religious and social conservative groups; Fox executives breath a sigh of relief that ratings are assured.
Temptation Island is set to begin airing on Fox affilliates next Wednesday at 9pm EST. The premise underlying this show is to take four "committed couples" and place them in close proximity to 26 hot singles and see whose commitment falls to the wayside.
This latest offering from the same folks who proffered the late, and unlamented, Who Wants to Marry a Multi- Millionaire has come under fire from all directions. A rabbi in Dallas is ragging on the show for being "an assault on marriage". L. Brent Bozell, of the Parents Television Council, said that the viewing audience who would watch this show, "ought to be embarrassed." The American Family Association, out of Tupelo Mississippi, is encouraging visitors to its website to contact the Fox network to protest the show.
Fox Network officials expressed the hope that people would not form their opinions from "promotional materials", encouraging the American public to view the program and make up their own minds.
Why do I smell ratings blockbuster?
