Ole my man,
It's just a movie (and a good one at that). I grew up in MN and yes the accents are exagerated for the most part, but the accents of the old timer farmers I grew up "vit" are much, much thicker than those in the movie. If Hollywood only knew the real truth!!
I find it weird that many in MN who grew up (like me) poking fun at old-timers (and a few new timers) by imitating their accents can't make the connection of this and the movie.
Many Minnesotans go to movies laughing at New Yorker,Boston, California or Southern accents. So now the rest of America knows about Minnesota, so what!! Most people can figure out this is just a movie.
