Um, there's no "perhaps" about it. It definitely was a fool's errand, and distaste for war doesn't have a damned thing to do with it.
And ultimately, the orders came from the stupidest man ever to sit in the Oval Office, the "Decider," Mr. "I'm a war president!" himself.
