Got to agree with Cranky's statement about drug stories. Nobody else who wasn't there doing it with you gives a rat's ass. Special effects are a cheap device to get the audience to enjoy the story simply because then you're allowed into their heads; otherwise, I could have gotten up from my seat and had more fun hucking jujubes at the projectionist (even though it wasn't really his fault). Nobody could understand one word he said, and the natural course of events between drug benders was about as interesting as a wart medicine commercial. Hunter S. Thompson can and should only be appreciated for his literature. The man lives in the middle of the woods in Aspen with steel vultures on either side of his gateposts and his front yard looks like Jed Clampett's before moving to BH. Leave him the hell alone and don't make any more movies about him.
