Mr. Thompson was a visionary, a beacon of light in a world of other stuff. Despite his unorthodox lifestyle choices, he was a prolific writer who left us a legacy of his life and times. Terry Gilliam's adaptation of this story has introduced the younger generations and those of us who have never learned how to operate a book (they're out there)to a timeless classic of human depravity and chemical pathology. Hurray!
