i agree with you on all of your excellent points except one. personally, i'm thankful that seeing someone writing in cursive kind of dates them and proves they're old. i'm glad it's slowly being filtered out of our educational system. it's more important for kids to be able to print legibly when filling out some kind of important forms (legal, applications, etc) than it is to be able to write in some ridiculous script that's supposed to expedite writing, but was always twice as slow for me. when i was a kid, i was practically a prodigy when it came to writing/grammar and all that, but when they started teaching cursive, suddenly i was at the bottom of the class. and for what, so i can write something that no one (including me) can read?
