So - I pre-order from Amazon the Deluxe edition of the new Tori Amos CD - "Scarlet's Walk" (exhaustive review coming up next week!) - partly because you'll need it to access the Scarlet's Web site - beaucoup little tidbits tied in with the theme of the album and the tour (tix for Lowell - HOORAY!). They promise only that the album'll show up at my abode by Nov. 7th - OK - I *could* hold out that long....
But - the release day comes - as does my CD! HOODY- HOOOOO! I give the album a few spins. Kewl!
Now, comes the time to try for the Scarlet's Web stuff. I pop it in my CD player of my PC. I check the requirements - and it looks like I qualify - HOODY-HOOOO!
I load everything up, fire it off, bring up the website. KEWL! Map of the US, with the trek associated with each song in its own color (and the total path hits every state in the union). And the first path - associated with Amber Waves, the first song - even has some points of interest and cities and towns actually printed on it. Kewl! I mouse over - and various spots link to pix, bits of info about places of interest on the path, lyris, notebook entries, minimovies and minivideos for the songs! KOOOOOOOL!!!! And you can save some of these items into a "Journal" - so you can keep track, kinda, of YOUR trip through the site. Over the next week, the paths for the next 2 songs also get filled in.
So, you're asking - what does all this have to do with the title of this screed?
Well, since you've asked nicely - ConnecteD, the company that "wrote" the "software" that "operates" the site truly sux moose penis thru a crazy straw. I can't save later versions of my journal - every time I leave the site, when I come back in, my journal only has the stuff I had in it when I did my very first save - pound as I may on the link that will allegedly save my journal. None of the minivideos work. They were supposed to have a bonus song on the map for 30 days. Well, outside of the fact that it didn't work, they must have had the site up since September, cuz the damn thing was off the day after I tried to access it. Two emails have not been responded to.
I was really, really looking forward to that website. It coulda bin a contendah. Instead, it's a loser.
I want everyone at ConnecteD to be nibbled to death by rabid weasels. With lisps.
