1) What is your BEST sports memory from either your childhood or teen years? This will include only personal accomplishments or team accomplishments on which you were a participating member.
Probably in sixth grade, when I placed third in the 400-yard dash in a track meet. Now THAT was a moment :)
2) What is your single favorite sports event that you watched as a casual (or rabid) observer?
Hmmm...I'm torn here between:
1) The NBA 1990 playoffs, when the Pistons pulled out of the losing score they had been holding the entire game, and shot a tie within the last seconds of the game. Talk about a nail-biter :P
2) Seeing the Wings win the Cup for the first time. I was home in bed that night recovering from getting all four of my wisdom teeth extracted (but I would've been home anyway ;) ), and it was such a joy seeing them FINALLY see my home team get the Cup after all those years of seeing them come so close and miss the mark. Of course, the '98 win was quite special too, but nothing beat the exhilaration of the first win :)
