I read a bunch of reviews and articles on how gruesome and gory this movie was. I must have missed this when I saw the film. I mean, this was fairly tame compared to the gore I want to see if that is what I am expecting from a movie. I love all movies (even love stories), not just horror, but when I go to a movie expecting a "slasher" type movie, I expect to be entertained. Not so in this movie. It was just plain silly. Nothing was even remotely scary. It was a big hour and a half yawn. I mean, let's analyze some of the so-called creative death scenes. The log through the window was good, I must admit, but that's about it. The burn victim scene - "Dark Man" and even that scene in "Backdraft" were far more disturbing in their context - The girls head in the elevator - the garage door scene in "Scream" wins hands down - The infamous barbed chicken wire scene - Come On! - the opening scenes in "The Cube" and "Ghost Ship" blew that away in such a big way. I mean, all in all, the kill scenes were very brief and lacked detail. People just seemed to liquify quickly and it seemed very cheaply done. The end scene was just dumb. An extremely weak take off on "Scary Movie". For a movie that depended solely on the kill scenes and gore, it was just unsatisfying in all departments. Take my advice, if you want gore, go rent an 80's slasher flick, like the first two Friday the 13ths, or Predator, or Total Recall, or Dawn of the Dead, or The Evil Dead - and if you just want plain disgusting, rent the first Alien and watch and re-watch the thing exploding out of the man's stomach. That will give you your fix, and show you how horror is really done.
