have black ancestors. I've heard stories of families that regarded a black granparent or great-grandparant as a huge, shameful family secret that was never mentioned to outsiders. Also, almost every black person in the U. S. has white ancestors somewhere. So, basically, the color of your skin, hair, eyes, whatever, doesn't reflect your racial heritage very accurately, in America anyway. I suppose in European countries, where black populations tend to be smaller (no huge African slave trade), most ostensibly "white" people don't have black ancestors. Unless you count the very first Africans, from which we are all descended.
