Um, yes...except that obviously you weren't around in 1963, when Lesley Gore pounded out that anthem of female defiance - quite revolutionary for its pre-women's liberation days. She had a great voice, especially as she was only about 15.
However, I, too, winced and cringed every time that talentless trio burst into discordant strains, sounding like a flock of wrens with a history of mental illness.
