I agree with most of your comments, but please don't call women "ladies", it is so annoying and so 1950's. I think the bottom line is that more women need to get involved with film making at all levels. Then they will have more capability to say interesting things without having to bow to the pressures of people whose only interest is selling a movie to as many people as possible, and thus require the use of trite but safe formula movie making.

I think the point about power struggles is interesting, and I agree that there is more to women's lives than this. It is an inescapable fact however, that men still hold the balance of visible power in most places of the world, ie in the workplace, government, their earnings etc, so it is inevitable that this becomes a preoccupation of feminists. I find it very boring though, when we see movies that repeat the same crappy old cliches of the so called "battle of the sexes", without attempting to make any interesting comment or look at things in a novel way .

I also agree with Bonnie when she talks about movies as fantasy and escapism, and God knows I love a revenge story line!
