One of reason, who seems to understand that you can enter(or start) a conversation that doesn't involve meaningless attacks easier ignored or the general "you suck, or maybe your child abusing parents do" tone some posters feel necessary to be in the "spirit" of Crankys.
(See? That was a compliment, yet I didn't have to resort to saying, you are cool lets go make brownies and dye our hair purple together.)
I undertand the what you were trying to get across. I think that when we have only a monlogue of words to represent what one is saying, as opposed to conversations with inflection, context and dialogue, there is bound to be misunderstandings especially with all the lag time. does this make sense?
Film making in general relies on universal themes, in order to bring the widest audience in. Because we want to be entertained, we go to movies we can relate to, or so is the industry thought.
The only way to change the pablum they serve us and call blockbusters is to use our money to vote for other types of film entertainment. Visit the independent houses and festivals. In my hometown, there is a franchise of a chain of theatres that show independent films only. They are great and usually first run. (It's the Kendall Theatre, but this aside is only for Superman)
My point is, women and men in popular culture are both not representative of ladies and gentlemen in real life.
But how often can we go see Rocky Horror Picture Show anyways, heh, Eartha?
Lola
(P.S. Superman: how's this for entering the fray? I want your compleat and total approval of my methods, of course, you cop of how people should participate in the fora.)
