...and shot repeatedly. Way too many times. Even if he was armed, or was going for a gun, he didn't need to be shot that many times. I'm no expert, but it doesn't seem to me that pulling the thing out and squeezing off as many as you can is the right idea. A simple shot to the leg I assume would stop most people in their tracks. It's not a movie, it's not a video game. You don't have to hit the guy 40 times to take him down.
