Saw Galaxy Quest last night. Although most of its been done before: "The Last Starfighter", several Twilight Zone episodes, etc., it was ok. Tim Allen did a good job of imitating William Shatner's version of method acting. Sigourney Weaver (I hope I got her last name right. If I didn't, oh well.....) did a rather poor job of imitating the main squeeze of that former Motley Crue drummer what's-his-name.
Seriously, I would have preferred Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in the respective Tim Allen/Sigourney Weaver roles. Then we could have had a classic scene such as: both are standing on the bow of the starship, lit by an exploding nova, his arms around her, her yielding herself to him, both kissing passionately, Celine Dion screaming some stupid goddam song in the background. Everyone crying in the audience. Or maybe another scene: they're making it in the back seat of a shuttle craft. Steamed up viewports. Celine Dion screaming another stupid goddam song in the background. Everyone crying again in the audience.
Galaxy Quest offered a hell of a lot potential. Unfortunately Dreamquest pissed it all away. Oh well.....
