I thought the trailer for this movie was intriguing and looked forward to its release. I was pretty engrossed as I watched, too. But, as Mr. Cranky said, the ending was truly awful. Had he simply jumped and died, it would have made some sort of deranged, cruel, twisted sense. But what happened after he jumped played off like a tacked-on ending. It was as though some test audience wanted a happy ending, so everyone was called back to reshoot a new, typically-American type ending where all is well, and the good guy who has been through so much gets the girl (who was young enough to be his granddaughter).
And, again as Mr. Cranky pointed out, my friend and I sat in disbelief that Van Orten didn't kick his brother's ass all over room.
Cordially,
Ms. Winky
