11/16/97: The Real Game

Posted By: ({;-) Dan in Cincinnati)

This movie was set in San Francisco. When moviegoers in that city left the theater after seeing "The Game" people would approach them and hand over a card with a ghostly image and the words "You have seen the movie, now play the real game".

This was not a put on, but a promotion for the Bardo Training Center, a New Age group that believes people, like Douglas's character must be shook up because they are not living true to their nature. It offers participants an environment of film, music and dance that's intended to inspire a game-like "reality disturbance".

And Californians wonder why the rest of the country thinks they are a bit wacky!
