Jerome's suicide at the end reveals how monumentally meaningless this movie is. The proper ending would have been for Jerome to find a way to make his life worthwhile, despite his disability. Or have his suicide be something shameful, present it like the immature, weak-willed escape it actually was. Triumphant music plays while he hops into the garbage incinerator. While this movie is very entertaining, it reveals in its blunderous ending that there is no intentional depth to its plot.
Eat my shorts, Mikey, some day you may be crippled and have a family to care for. Would you roast yourself just like Jerome?
