06/24/1999: Again?

WHY more of these polls? Okay, whatever, I'll answer:

1. Sepultura

At times ridiculous, other times a great sound, particularly since they experiment around with rythms. Extra credit for being one of the heaviest bands around, not to mention some good lyrics...

2. Motley Crue

Fun...

3. Clint Black

I forgot...

4. Pantera

Great live band. Have some great, powerful tracks, although a lot of their early stuff isn't that great. One of the most consistent metal bands, and it helps that they have a great guitarrist.

5. Underworld

Don't recall...

6. TLC

Tender Love and Care my ASS!! (Yes, I know that the name is "actually" the initials of the singers, but I don't buy that). At least they gave the only one with some talent more singing space. But they've got bad lyrics that people (AND critics) place as "groundbreaking". In any case, the R&B genre is pathetic and monotonous. It's supposed to be party music yet it works as a sedative, and not one of the good ones...

7. Bush

Didn't I just talk about them? Half of their tracks are good, the other half bad. They are NOT Nirvana rip offs (by the way, unbeknowest to most so-called music critics, having a distorted guitar riff in your song is something that goes back to 70s - the 50s, if you ask some historians). And there's the problem that the singer seems to be making up the lyrics as he goes along, placing as many random words possible together. Or perhaps he suffers from "Schizopolis" syndrome (also known as "B-52s" syndrome, or "at least we aren't saying 'Na-na-na' 150 times" syndrome)... But I like 'em...

8. Wallflowers

The only passable song is "6th Avenue Heartbreak", or whatever it is called (if I got it wrong, don't correct me; I don't care). The rest is pathetic. Sometimes they start out well, but then they screw it up with their synth pipe organ keyboard sounds and Jakob Dylan's awful singing...

9. Bruce Springsteen

Not bad for the most part, but nothing interesting.

10. Dave Matthews Band

Some songs awful, others just mediocre and/or boring. The only musically interesting track is "Don't Drink the Water"...

11. Vision of Disorder

Don't recall...

12. Rob Zombie

Kicks ass!...

13. Dixie Chicks

I can't take country seriously... ("Take the Dice Away from Baby, Grandma, Before He Craps all Over the Floor") When its not downright ridiculous, its either about males beating females, or female empowerment, or just a lot of drunk whining...
