Sorry, the 80s reached out and grabbed me!
1. Sepultura -- I rarely say this about any band, but this one comes pretty close to sounding like pure noise
2. Motley Crew -- "Shout at the Devil" (which once helped me win some CDs in a radio contest), "Dr. Feelgood" and "Girls Girls Girls" are the only songs by them I really like, although for a power ballad, "Without You" was passable. "Home Sweet Home" needs to DIE.
3. Clint Black -- I can name quite a few country artists I like much more than him-- Garth Brooks, Leanne Rhimes, Conway Twitty, Brooks & Dunn, Ronnie Milsap, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Deanna Carter, Shania Twain and my personal favorite, Jon Anderson
4. Pantera -- They don't sound like pure noise, but their lead singer is almost completely unintelligible; their cover of "Planet Caravan" proved they do have a considerable amount of talent
5. Underworld -- I don't think I've ever heard anything by them
6. TLC -- "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" is one of only two songs I've heard by them that I don't want to shove right back down their throats; since I don't have any of their albums, I don't know what the name of the other one is, but it was played in clubs a lot earlier this year, and was FUNKY as hell-- by FAR my favorite TLC song. I've never heard it on a radio.
7. Bush -- Hey, Parca, David Grohl himself said of these guys, "Sounds like Nirvana"! Considering Nirvana's dead, I'm glad they and many others sound like Nirvana-- continues the tradition. The only song I really like on "Sixteen Stone" is "Everything Zen" (which is EXTREMELY Nirvanish, right down to the video, Lam), but "Razorblade Suitcase" is actually one of my all-time CDs, with "Personal Holloway," "Greedy Fly" "Cold Contagious" and "History" being my favorites. Although my actual favorite "Bush" song is the re-mixed version of "Mouth" used in the "American Werewolf in Paris" soundtrack.
8. Wallflowers -- WAAAAAY too soft for me
9. Bruce Springsteen -- the "Born in the USA" album has a few songs I can tolerate, like "Glory Days" and "Cover Me," but for the most part, I don't understand the mystique; did like his cover of "War" a lot, though
10. Dave Matthews Band -- most of his/their songs I really like a lot, but some just kind of drag; "What Would You Say" is destined to be still considered a classic in 50 years-- it never gets old. I also liked "Ants Marching" a lot, as well as the first track off the second album (which for some reason slips my mind at the moment)
11. Vision of Disorder -- you got me here
12. Rob Zombie -- WHITE Zombie I loved "More Human Than A Human" and "Thunderkiss 65"-- the only ROB Zombie song I like a lot is "Living Dead Girl."
13. Dixie Chicks -- Add them to my list of country artists I like a lot more than Clint Black. But maybe it's just that they're a LOT prettier than Clint Black! Seriously, though, I like most of what I've heard (or seen, really-- I rarely turn to country stations so usually it's their videos that penetrate my senses). What's interesting is their producer wanted to do the Shania Twain thing to them (re-mix some of their songs for crossover appeal) and they refused-- something about if they're going to crossover it's going to be completely because people like the music they actually perform. Way to go, girls!
