I could say plenty about the Civil War, but I'll limit myself now to pointing out that I am baffled why anyone would admire Robert E. Lee. I feel similarly about some WWII Nazi generals, those who were competent and perhaps are even now being studied to understand their tactical thinking, but who were working for a thoroughly corrupt cause.
