03/22/01: Huzzah, Topper and Bickle.

I say on to Bull Run and we'll surely teach those Rebs a thing or two.

Allow me to second what Topper and Bickle have so eloquently put -- The Confederacy was a doomed enterprise aimed at maintaining a corrupt way of life. And what is this crap about "invading our country"?

Last time I checked, prior to the Civil War the geographic region that became the Confederate States of America was part of the association known as the United States of America. If memory serves me correctly whether they would be able to remain part of the United States was at least partly what the fucking who-hah known as the Civil War up north and The War of Northern Aggression down south was about.

Bottomline, the question got settled at Appomattox Court House in 1865 -- that country you claimed the Yanks invaded was as much the part of the Union as was Boston or New York. You lost the war and you lost a corrupt and archaic social system. What the Virginia governor did was recognize that remembering what happened means remembering what happened and not just the mythology that lovers of the Old South want to remember.
