Here's how it works. Val and Michael always get 5 or 10 mill, tool around in their Landrovers, AND get Sharon Stone or whoever. The main difference between you and the tribesmen in the Ghost and the Darkness is that you don't get any grain or a nice kick in the ass. Africa or America, 1896 or 1996 - it makes little difference. Mr. Cranky should know this.
