Haven't seen GitS yet [didn't plan to, really. It was either that or MST3K, and... well... I'm a rabid MST3K fan, so...] but on the point of translating anime: Generally, anything that's been dubbed into English from another language will bite royally. Take the english translation of Akira, for example. What the hell were all the english voice-actors on? Speed? Sure as hell sounded like it.
