I for 1 truly enjoyed GITS. It was a welcome change from the "apeal to the masses" type senseless movies and even animation that our american youth culture has grown-up on. I look forward to more work by Oshii. He effectively combines complex stories with beautifully seamless animation and backgrounds. It's unique to finally have someone take on the opinion that having your body mechanically upgraded brings with it drawbacks that no-one really thinks about. An example is losing your humanity. If one really paid attention to the movie you would have found that theme and seen that Oshii did a helluva good job portaying it.
