The "manual" to the Ghost in the Shell Movie is the manga on which it is based. Like all of Shirow's work, it is densely packed with technical info, covering pretty much everything that was seen in the movie (and quite a few things that didn't make it into the movie version, like the Fuchikomas). In addition, the manga is extensively footnoted. The english version is available from Dark Horse Comics.
