07/14/96: Some hubbub about dub

Posted By: Shua

Hello? Is it just me or does almost all dubbed anime use the same voice actors? Even different labels sound like they have the same 4 or 5 voice actors in all their dubbed releases (you know, the boy, the girl, the big guy, the old man, the evil guy) and then just have them read the parts that are closest to their cliched voice? Do they even get to rehearse or do they just come into the recording studio one day and read the dialogue off cue cards?

The animation in this movie was top notch but the dubbing was substandard (the standard being a Godzilla movie).

Oh well, I guess I'll have to find a subtitled copy because I thought the story wasn't half-bad, not as good as Akira, but not half-bad.
