I mean, the story was good, and all, but still, the whole wanting to be human thing, although nearly sort-of hinted at near the end, never went anywhere, plus, they changed the whole feel of the original comic (yeah, I read it. It was pretty good.) But, anyways, blah, blah, blah, Japanese animation is not infallible, as so many would have you believe, and, yes, it can be boring, especially when you read at such a speed that even the subtitles add no momentum to the movie. And the tacked on action sequence at the end was just tastless. Yuck.
