I am a rabid anime nut, and I had a really hard time even staying awake during Ghost in the Shell. I won't go into it very deeply, but I didn't care about anything or anybody in this movie. If you want a much better anime that covers similar philosophical ground, go see Serial Experiments Lain for life changing depth, or Armitage III for some cheap thrills.
