is that all the hype surrounding the deaths of Princess Di and JFK Jr. was overbearing. The thing about celebrity deaths is, most of the grievers are people who don't know anything about the people beyond what they read in magazines, see on TV shows, and know about from their creative works.
I really don't see the point of comparing deaths as to say whose death was a "bigger loss". When someone like Aaliyah, Kurt Cobain, River Phoenix, Jerry Garcia, Brandon Lee, or countless others die while they're still vital, it robs the world of their continued creativity (of course, it also robs people of friends/family, but that happens when anyone dies). People such as Princess Diana and JFK Jr. did make their marks on the world as well - Diana did a lot of work with various charity causes (although her death did overshadow that of Mother Teresa) while JFK Jr. probably did valuable things as well (I'm not a hardcore celeb watcher, so I don't know). The important thing though, is that the death of anyone, famous or not, represents a substantial loss to people's lives - you can't rank something like that...
