The book version is incredible (first stumbled across this in the sorry excuse for the library stacks at Bentley College...yeah, got the degree from UMO, started at Bentley...). Written by Cameron Crowe in 1981 (he went undercover at Ridgemont Senior High for about a year to get the material). Unsure if this ever made the NYTBS, but the characters are even more amazing then what ended up on screen...the only bummer...book is very hard to find...Amazon.com has out-of-print copies...starting at roughly $181.00...
