Stop fishing for compliments, Aran. You're attracting a fanclub of jocks and loons. But maybe that's what you wanted. 9.5/10! Are you for real? Scarlett and Thora obviously couldn't stand each other, the oddballs were caricatured, and the film was just too deferential to the comics (have we got that plate in yet?). Of course the film had its pluses- unusual angle, Buscemi, and the art school scenes BUT did anyone think the main themes of the film were actually given enough attention? It just seems like Clowes playing to the gallery (and Zwigoff). Plenty about nerds, but what about Rebecca? What about the "selling out" question? The ending? Very unimpressive attempt at cheap laughs while using overegged metaphors to attempt to tie together issues hardly raised during two hours of meandering autobiography. Still, i watched to the end. With Hird and Buscemi on good form it seemed like a chance lost.
