Now that I think about it, I do think that you should be required to pay some small amount of taxes, even if you don't want to. And yes, this does make me a hypocrite.
There are some Libertarians who say that we should have no taxes. In principle, this is a good idea. But in the real world, we do ned to have some taxes. There are some things that only government can do, and we need to have taxes to pay for these things. And yes, it does make me a hypocrtie to say this.
And this isn't the first tiem that I have said this. When I said it over a year ago, Richard thanked me for my having acknowleded that my being in favor of some taxes contradicted by libertarian ideas, and made me a hypocrite.
If I say the usual libertarian stuff, people here accuse me of being conformist, and not thinking for myself. If I diverge from pure libertarian ideology, people here accuse me of being a hypocrite. Darned if I do, and darned if I don't! But that's how the real works.
