Of course, he had a stock character role, so what'd he have to work with? Nevertheless, he sounded like valley-neck. I wasn't none-to-impressed with Giovanni Ribisi as a redneck either (then again, other than "Boiler Room," I've never been too impresed with him) and Katie Holmes' performance and character were both... mmmm... at least she SHOWED HER BREASTS!
Other than that, I actually agree with most of your review (particulary about Blanchett, although I don't think this role was good enough to deserve an Oscar nomination -- that doesn't mean she won't get one anyway), except for that 3 stars part -- 2 stars will about do it. Really, if not for the much better performances and slightly better character development, it could have been just another "Blair Witch 2."
Have you seen "The Pledge" or "Shadow of the Vampire" yet? I'm eager to discuss both of them but I can't find another person on the planet who's seen either!
