The emergence of the Green party will ultimately cause one of two things:
1) The democrats will move rightward as Greens eat up their progressive votes. (Three parties)
And more likely,
2) The democrats will respond by moving leftwards and
fighting for those votes (ie, emergence of Howard Dean).
Because of Nader, people are paying more attention to progressive votes (they can no longer consider them in the bag). Plus 15 years down the road when America wakes up and realizes George Bush was the worst president ever then the conservative base will crumble...
