I think Spike Lee is right- Watch the film. I just viewed it again. It's even better the second time. And while, fortunately, my experiences auditioning with primarily classy casting directors (like Robbi Reed} have spared me, Girl 6's frustrations - at least, not the same ones.
But, as a phone sex operator, doesn't her character obtain that invaluable (to an actress) opportunity to "feel", as she was coached early in the film; and don't those same feeling(s) she experiences/chooses to experience serve as an intense on hands (no pun intended) course in acting. Unlike the obligatory "temping" scene, where some "acting" is a help and almost required, as you switch company culture and venue, performing basically the same character from company to company.. desk to desk -.
But, Suzanne-Lori Parks brilliantly illustrates that "Girl 6" gets the green light to switch characters and actually like them. What a way to practice your craft. My only criticism is only this: why wasn't "Girl 6" a pretty fair-skinned spanish mulatta? just kidding.
I enjoyed Theresa Randle's work and this vehicle for displaying her impressive range in a unique way.
Thank you for this film. I am even inspired to update my resume, before I turn 30.
