unlike what some people seem to think...i thought girls town was a pretty good film. first, the movie originated from a improv film workshop meaning that the whole story was thought up in a flash. so the movie was basically an experiment of sorts. and whoever said it was in the theater was wrong since it went "straight to video". next, although the women in the film don't appear to be in high school (just a bit too old), they do discuss in a realistic way some of the struggles grils go through growing up, such as rape, abusive boyfriends, and conflicts with parents, friends, and peers. and i think there need to be more movies for women that discuss these issues. for instance, "antonia's line" is an excellent feminist film. naturally, these films are never going to become popular or even shown in a theater, but they are definitely worth checking out.
