Hi all
there is no conspiricy at the Aust Govt level, they are just too incompetent for that. Years and years of culling out the strong and clever with voluntary redundancy packages worth thousands, leaving the timid and clumsy in charge. I just can't wait to see the mess they make of the GST.
The olympic committees are another matter, gravy, anyone for gravy. Perhaps if they banned TV coverage which I never watch anyway, they never show the sports I want to see at a predictable time, it would be more for the athletes and the spectators than the entreprenuers.
Still the antics of the socog anticipated by some of our best comedians (anyone else see the abc series "the games", with Brian Dawe and John Clarke) are highly entertaining. I am sure the real committee are following the TV script and adding extra highlights of their own.
My personal favourite and perhaps more relevant, is why are they letting the swimmers wear the body suits? The manufacturers claim they are "performance enhancing". The athletes agree (or they wouldn't wear them) and the swiming authority rules state wearing "performance enhancing" gear eg flippers is banned. I don't see the difference. I would like to see thorpedo break world record without the suit.
