It isn't better. "A hero shall arise" sounds as pretentious as the culture that originated the language. Possibly why this hopelessly unromantic speach had to be modified over the years so that it flows from the toung instead of having to fumble over it. The original tag is a CATCH phrase designed in the context of a mainstream film to capture the masses who aren't interested in a night with Shakespere. Please note this ain't no Merchant Ivory flick (gic).
Not that the Romans were blathering away in queens english to begin with. I suspect there was a severe shortage of grammar education at the time and online dictionaries were probably damn hard to log on to. Presumming of course that civilized social conduct somehow went hand in hand with salivating over spectacles of incomprehensable brutality which contrary to popular belief- it didn't.
Of all the nitpicking in here of a perfectly fine film this one is rather pathetic. Its either an effort to point out your superior intellect or a desperate effort to find more trivial faults on a 'who gives a shit' level.
It's a movie for Christs sake, imperfect like all others, subject to personal interpretation based on ones preferences and attitudes at the time of viewing and undeserving of pointless piss-ant dissection. On the whole it clearly outranks the majority of refuse currently wasting space on my screens.
If you must complain please attempt to find a legitimate flaw in the film worthy of debate. In fact I defy you to based on the premise it was produced. This isn't Spielburg and it isn't Cameron. It's Ridley Scott- master of the SURREAL where anything goes and all is a dream. You may as well be howling at the moon. -trav
P.S. Don't bother with my spelling or grammer- I'm leaving it this way for you seethe(sic?) over.
