01/18/06: Yes, but...

Yes, you are correct about being freed, from the law. However, there is one more thing that Paul is saying. You are freed from sin, and the bondage of the flesh. Then Paul goes on to state the works of the flesh and the works of the spirit. The geniles were never involved in the law, but they also needed to be made free.

I'm not talking about my concience telling me to do things either. When you read God's Word, and really get into it, it guides, you and shows you what is right or wrong. Hence, "You are clean by the words I have spoken unto you." He also tells the jews that they will be made free by the son of man. They reply by saying that they are Abraham's seed and never were in bondage to any man. He says that they are of their father the devil. You are bound by the devil, and by the flesh, until Jesus sets you free. Again, Galations 5 states the works of the Spirit and the works of the flesh. Lazurus comming back to life is also symbolic of being freed from the bands of the devil. "Loose him, and bring him unto me," Jesus says.

God's Word is also present in the time of Adam and Eve. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil. It was something that God didn't want them to get involved in at thsat point in time. The knowledge of good and evil is God's Word. When they ate it, they knew the truth. They knew that thy were naked, and covered themselves up. It showed them right from wrong.
