I can't fucking believe this!! I was watching both NBC and CNN today and while reporting on the tragic high school murders they both pointed out that one of the two kids was a big fan of the industrial band KMFDM. NBC went so far as to call the band a group of "Nazis who advocate violence in their lyrics." This is complete bullshit!! KMFDM are being chosen as scapegoats because they're German (the killings occured on Hitler's birthday) and because one of the kids had KMFDM lyrics on his website. First of all, the band uses violent imagery in its lyrics sarcastically in order to point out the injustice of fascism. They also aren't Nazis and, being a big fan of the band, I don't want to have to spend forever justifying the fact that I like their music. Why does everybody always need to find some type of art to blame these kinds of things on? I can tell this KMFDM issue is going to inflate into something really ugly within the media over the nexy week. This whole thing really makes me sick!
