well.. this is a sampling of some Goth bands: Sisters of Mercy The Sisterhood Siouxsie and the Banshees Christian Death Black Tape for a Blue Girl Lyceum My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult (<--- some people would argue that, tho Goths were always at the shows) basically anything on the Projekt record label
It tends to be very guitarsy, and very dark. It is usually very beatifully orchestrated, tho the lyrics can be somewhat trite (<--- altho that is subjective) I always thought the lyrics could be annoying at times because I was generally a pretty happy chick growing up, so the lyrics didn't really speak to me. BUT... a lot of very talented vocalists and guitarists are Goth musicians, so I always loved the music.
New school Goth is Marilyn Manson and Korn, but I personally consider them to be flakes and generally undeserving of the Goth title (as do most Goths I know)
