Report: U.S. firms vie for Iraq deals
WSJ: White House prepares to award $900 million contract
NEW YORK, March 10 — The Bush administration has asked at least five American engineering firms, including a unit of Halliburton Co., to bid for a post-war Iraq rebuilding contract which may be worth as much as $900 million, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.
THE NEWSPAPER said all five bidders have submitted their bids or are preparing to do so after the U.S. Agency for International Development “quietly” sent out a detailed request soliciting proposals from the likely bidders.

Yeah, you bet the solicitation of bids was "quiet." For those of you who've seen your 401(k) become a 201(k) over the last couple of years, see what you can do to become vice president. A $900 million chunk of change could bolster your pension quite nicely, doncha think?
