OK, I've heard this about a thousand times when people outside of the realm of movie critics discuss movies: whenever I say that a movie like Godzilla was terrible, they say something to the effect of "God, lighten up! It's just for fun!" Am I the only one who is driven out of his freakin' MIND by stupid shit like this? I paid to see this movie. Movie tickets are expensive where I live. When I shell out $6.25 to see one (More if I have a date with me), I expect to see something at least marginally entertaining. Godzilla? You have to be kidding me. No, really. Please. Tell me that someone didn't read this script and say "Wow, what EMOTION!" I can't understand that. I was insulted by this movie. On what lower level of conciousness does one have to dwell in order to be even slightly amused by the attempts at humor? Who doesn't get out enough to notice the BLATANT ripoff of Jurassic Park (if you're going to plagiarize, at least have the decency to do it from something obscure)? And yet people will tell me that I'm reading too much into it, that I shouldn't think about it so much. Sorry, Confucious, I'm not the kind to have the ability to suspend thought for two hours while some money-grubbing studio crams this load of shit down my throat. Thought is not an unenjoyable thing for me, and I like movies that promote it. I can't laugh at something that isn't funny simply by not thinking about it, just like I can't be terrified by a situation whose outcome redefines the word "predictable." If Hollywood gets the impression that people can no longer recognize a worthless piece of filmmaking, then that's all they're ever going to produce. BOYCOTT THIS MOVIE!
