I, a big fan of (the REAL) Godzilla, saw this film on opening day and this film disappointed me! Man, they messed with one of Japan's greatest icons!!! This movie was a joke! This movie should have been called THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS!!! The monster should have been called GINO (Godzilla In Name Only)!!! He wasn't indestructible or a destroyer like in the original! He was a scared iguana who dodged the military and was killed by EIGHT FUCKING MISSLES!!! Not only that, he lacked his trademark Thermonuclear Breath Ray! The REAL Godzilla never ran away from the military, and he was just killed by a rare weapon (the Oxygen Destroyer)! The original GODZILLA was a great film, but the original 1954 Japanese version was better! It was much darker, more insightful, and had character development, which Penta-Star's FAKEZILLA lacked!!! There was no feeling! This film was just one big CGI show! Most of the fans lashed out at Devlin & Emmerich, and you know what Devlin told us? "If you don't like it, then to hell with you!" Says pretty much, doesn't it? After seeing the film, one major G-fan in Japan, Yoshiyuki Kasuya, said angrily in an interview, "That's not Godzilla. He got killed with four missiles, but the Japanese Godzilla is almost bulletproof. And the Japanese Godzilla is handsome, but the American Godzilla is not." I also like what he said later on! "When you see a child playing Godzilla, he destroys blocks or sand castles. But if you try to play American Godzilla, all you can do is run away from attacks. I don't want to play that kind of Godzilla."
LONG LIVE GODZILLA!!! DOWN WITH DEANZILLA!!!
