..but made better by a lack of Bill Paxton. The plots ran parallel to each other:
Twister - Main characters are tornado chasers, trying to save lives by predicting where tornadoes will strike next. G2000 - Main characters are Godzilla chasers, trying to save lives by predicting where the giant, mutated, lizard will strike next.
Twister - The main character's arch-nemesis was once his friend and partner, but their relationship soured as the friend was motivated by greed, turning his back on traditional methodology and field work. G2000 - The main character's arch-nemesis was once his friend and partner, but their relationship soured as the friend was motivated by wanting to kill the giant, mutated, radioactive lizard instead of studying it, turning his back on traditional methodology and field work.
Twister - Afore mentioned arch-nemesis is killed by his own folly and the very tornado he was chasing. G2000 - Afore mentioned arch-nemesis is killed by his own folly and the very giant, mutated, radioactive, fire- breathing lizard that he was standing there looking at.
Twister - There was a jack-ass named Rusty. G2000 - There were two jack-ass fishermen named something Japanese.
I think that a giant, evil, radioactive tornado should have some from outerspace to fight the F5 at the end of Twister. That would have been sweet.
