12/20/07: "We're all friends here and we're all pulling for you, wils."

You're right. That DOES sound like the "typical Crankyland leftist" position.

And to quote one of my favorite 2,000-year-old obscure philosophers:

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:44-45

Along with:

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Matthew 5:11-12

We secular humanists remember the sentiment behind these words pretty easily and strive to include them in the actions in our daily lives. It'd be nice if more people tried to do this as well.

Best regards, Wallee
