12/20/07: Does anyone have an opinion of "Serenity"?

*Disclaimer: If you hate science fiction stop reading now-- I had the opportunity to watch the 1st season of Firefly, and I thought it was pretty good. The premise of the show is a Western based in outer space. That sounds really weird until you actually watch it. There's lots of gunfights and explosions and action-y stuff. The main character is a thief/smuggler with redeemable qualities (a la Han Solo of Star Wars) and regular cast members include several talented actresses/actors. Too bad there aren't any more seasons. I didn't see the film based on the series- Serenity, but I might. Does anyone know if it was worth watching?
