12/27/06: not much to go on here . . ....

I'm no mp3 expert, but my lame-ass handle compels me to respond. Unfortunately, the regular mp3 technical support staff of this movie review site dedicated to talking shit about politics is out on Christmas vacation.

Process of elimination is the best way to sniff out those gremlins:

1. Maybe the CD player had trouble reading your CD. Try a few different CD's.

2. Try ripping MP3's off your computer's CD-rom to your mp3 player (your mp3 player should have come with the necessary software to do this). This is the way most people rip MP3's anyway. If this works (and it probably will), it rules out your mp3 player as the culprit.

Either your mp3 player or your stereo is not configured properly or has out of date firmware or is just plain buggy (most computer code is buggy to some extent). I assume your stereo system has some kind of built-in firmware if it has a USB port; whether or not it can be upgraded is another question. The vendor's website is where you need to look for downloadable firmware upgrades and tech support.
